Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front and top surfaces of the teeth. They are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity and versatility. With veneers as an alternative, there is no reason to put up with gaps between your teeth, teeth that are stained, badly shaped or crooked. A veneer placed on top of your teeth can correct these maladies, simply and quickly, to help you achieve a beautiful smile!

When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. For strength and appearance, their resemblance to healthy, white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options. Because they are thin, light can shine through them and they take on the natural color of the underlying tooth.

With proper care, porcelain veneers will brighten your smile for well over a decade.

Our doctors will ensure that your veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelains and are bonded with the most advanced and proven materials available.

Zoom Whitening

If you prefer teeth that are immediately whiter in a short period of time, you might be a candidate for our in-office bleaching.  The Zoom! Whitening System uses proprietary technology to whiten your teeth an average of eight shades in a little over an hour while you relax at our office. It’s ideal for anyone who wants immediate results.  And you may go even lighter with additional applications of the easy take-home bleaching that is used to touch up. Start on Friday and by Monday you’ll have a whole new smile.

What can cause tooth discoloration?

There are many causes. The most common include aging and consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea or tobacco. During tooth formation, consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.

Is there any difference between over-the-counter tooth whiteners and Zoom!

Yes! Consulting The doctor is always the first step to whitening your teeth safely. Over-the-counter tooth whitening strips, brush-on gels and toothpastes take weeks or months to whiten your teeth just a few shades. Zoom! is clinically proven to whiten your teeth eight shades in one hour or six shades in just one weekend

How does the Zoom! In-Office System work?

The Zoom! light-activated whitening gel’s active ingredient is Hydrogen Peroxide. As Hydrogen Peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching any colored substance while keeping the structure of the tooth unchanged. The Zoom! light aids in activating the Hydrogen Peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth.

How long is the procedure?

The Entire procedure takes just over one hour. The procedure begins with a preparation period followed by one hour of bleaching. A five-minute fluoride treatment completes the procedure (we recommend a cleaning prior to the actual Zoom! Whitening session).

Do the results last a long time?

By following some simple post whitening care instructions, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. We recommend flossing, brushing twice daily with Zoom! Whitening Toothpaste, and touch-ups with Zoom! take-home gel. These are professional formula products designed specifically to keep your teeth their brightest. They are available through our office.

Opalescence Boost Whitening

Dental bleaching can be used to correct many tooth discolorations. These discolorations may have been caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in bleaching technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful, “brilliant” smile.

One of the latest bleaching technologies offered here at Dental Arts of Hackensack is the advanced Opalescence Boost in-office whitening system.  Opalescence Boost features a unique, chemically activated formula that allows your dentist to whiten your teeth without the bothersome heat or ultraviolet rays of a light. It also contains potassium nitrate and fluoride, which help to improve oral health by strengthening enamel, decreasing sensitivity, and offering increased cavity prevention.

The dentist-supervised, in-office procedure is safe and effective, and offers a brighter, whiter smile after just one appointment that lasts about an hour.  Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they’ve been dreaming of with our simple “bleaching” procedure.

Invisalign

Invisalign makes it easy to

straighten your teeth without

bands, brackets, or wires.”

Invisalign® clear braces are clear, removable, aligners that gradually move teeth without using metal braces or wires. Invisalign® is an appropriate treatment when the teeth are fully erupted (adult) and there is not a large degree of crowding, spacing or malocclusion. The aligners must be worn full time, day and night, and they should only be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. Aligners are created from special impressions that are taken of your teeth.

This advanced system works by using 3-D computer imaging technology to map the complete process of your treatment from beginning to end.  From this initial plan, a series of custom-made aligners are produced.  Each unique aligner is worn for approximately two weeks and gradually moves your teeth, preparing your teeth for the next aligner.  This process continues until the final position is achieved.

Only selected cases can be treated with the Invisalign system. For the removable aligner to place controlled and efficient forces on the teeth to move them to their desired locations, certain criteria must be met. All teeth must be fully erupted, therefore Invisalign® is not recommended for children or those individuals without a fully erupted dentition. The aligners must be worn full time, day and night, and they should only be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. If this is not possible, the aligners will not achieve the desired movements.

Maintaining your Invisalign aligners…

An aligner may be cleaned by brushing it and rinsing it in lukewarm water. Aggressive brushing may scratch the aligner and make it more visible. Do not eat, chew gum, or smoke with an aligner on. This will discolor or distort the aligner. Other than water, drinking is ill-advised while the aligners are on.

A lost, broken, or distorted aligner will not move teeth in the proper manner. If an aligner is lost or broken after less than ten days of wear, use the previous aligner and call our office to make a new aligner. If the aligner has been worn for 11 days or more, change to the next aligner in the series.

Cosmetic Periodontal Surgery

If you are unhappy with the appearance of short unsightly teeth or your “gummy smile” this can be greatly improved by a combination of periodontal procedures and some cosmetic procedures.

Although your teeth appear short, they may actually be the proper length. The teeth may be covered with excessive gum tissue. We can correct this by performing the periodontal plastic surgery procedure, crown lengthening.

During this procedure, excess gum and bone tissue are reshaped to expose more of the natural tooth. This can be done to more than one tooth, to even your gum line, and to create a beautiful smile.
